Jay’s Bio:
I was born in Charleston, West Virginia but my parents were both New Yorkers. Growing up in West Virginia, I lived in the best of both worlds – Southern dialect with Yiddish accents. I was the fifth of five children, graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1977 and from the Virginia Theological Seminary in 1980. I continued my education with four semesters of Classical Greek at Marshall University as well as other coursework at East Tennessee State University.
I have served eleven churches in the Dioceses of West Virginia, Southwest Virginia, and East Tennessee – many of these positions having been interim positions. I am canonically resident in the Diocese of East Tennessee and live in Kingsport, Tennessee.
In 1976, I married the love of my life, Karen (Boyd) Mills, and we have two adult children, Sarah and Jamie who now live in West Virginia and North Carolina, respectively.
I love water sports (kayaking, canoeing, etc.), youth work, preaching, and teaching. I have stayed current in my study of the scripture and the perquisite languages. The following are some of the wonderful things God has allowed me to do or be part of:

Hi!! The Thompson’s have been thinking a lot of you over the years and your time at St. Andrew’s. I’m living in Columubus, OH but everyone else is still on the ridge. I’m hoping this is a current email for you and I can update you on all the joy and sorrow that we have had over the years.
