Lay Eucharistic Ministry (LEM)

Read lessons and/or prayers during the service

Acolytes/Crucifers

Carry torches or the cross in processions and recessions/during Gospel reading (10:15a service). Although typically performed by youth, these positions are opened to all.

Vergers

Lead processionals, recessionals, and offering procession during 10:15 service. Fancy robes; looks important!

Ushers

Greet and hand out church bulletins prior to service; assist with offering and communion

Greeters

Greet individuals at main entrances as they come into the church for worship.

Eucharist Servers

Distribute wine during eucharist.

Choir

Sing during offertory and sometimes communion; participate in processional/ recessional; lead congregational singing of hymn and liturgical music.

Fall/Spring rehearsals are at 5:30 pm in the sanctuary; Summer rehearsals are Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the choir room upstairs.

Accompany choir or organ on hymns, and/or offer solo pieces during offering or communion.

Assist with the religious education and spiritual processing of children.

For Godly Play, storytellers and greeters have a rotating schedule. This is the goal for other Sunday School classes as well, should enough volunteers come forward.

Mentor and guide teens through their spiritual development.

Adult Forum Leaders

Lead Adult Forum group through a simple structure of personal updates, prayer, and discussion.

For Forum II, the schedule rotates. Leaders can lead for a single week or a segment of 3-4 weeks. You can introduce your own material for discussion or materials can be provided.

 Prepare and maintain items that dress the sanctuary.

Banners Ministry

Create banners for those to be baptized.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors

Provide ministry and the sacrament to the home-bound and shut-ins.

Laypersons perform this function (must first be trained and licensed by the Bishop).
